Caspal Obiero, a key suspect in the murder case of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno, failed to appear in court today, April 22, for the proceedings due to a tragic loss.
Obiero’s lawyers informed the court that he lost his wife and children in a road accident in March and was still in the process of arranging their funeral.
The lawyers cited financial constraints and the need to perform Luo rituals for a man who has lost his wife as reasons for the delay in the funeral arrangements.
Consequently, the court postponed the murder case hearing, to May 6, 2024.
Sharon Otieno’s murder shook the nation when she was abducted from a hotel in Homabay County on September 4, 2018.
Her body was found brutally murdered in Oyugis Forest.
Autopsy reports revealed that she was raped and stabbed eight times, resulting in her death along with her eight-month-old unborn child.
