Hype Man Ochieng Faces Murder Charges, Remanded in DCI Officer’s Murder
In a shocking turn of events, Allan Ochieng, also known as Hype Ballo, the hype man for DJ Joe Mfalme, finds himself entangled in a grave legal matter.
He stands accused of the murder of Felix Kelian Kintosi, a dedicated officer from DCI Dagoretti.
The Kiambu court wasted no time in addressing the severity of the charges, formally arraigning Ochieng on April 22nd.
Despite the weight of the accusation, Ochieng maintained his innocence, pleading not guilty before the court.
A statement issued by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) shed further light on the proceedings.
Ochieng’s denial of the charges notwithstanding, the prosecution, represented by counsel Jenifer Ndeda, sought his continued detention pending the completion of a social inquiry report by Probation and Aftercare.
Lady Justice Dorah Chepkwony acceded to the prosecution’s request, ordering Ochieng’s remand at Nairobi remand prison for an additional seven days.
The statement also clarified on the involvement of other individuals in Kintosi’s tragic demise.
Ochieng was previously apprehended alongside six others, including DJ Joe Mfalme, initially suspected in connection with the murder.
However, the remaining six individuals were subsequently released, turning into prosecution witnesses.
The court has set the date for the bail/bond application hearing for May 2nd, 2024.
As Ochieng battles for his freedom behind bars, the family of Felix Kintosi maintains a hopeful outlook, trusting that justice will prevail.
However, their optimism is tinged with dissatisfaction at the release of Mfalme and his associates.
They assert that Kintosi couldn’t have met his demise at the hands of a single assailant, casting doubt on the circumstances leading to his tragic end.
As the legal proceedings unfold, Ochieng remains in remand, awaiting his next court appearance.
