YouTube is intensifying its efforts to combat ad blockers on mobile devices.
In a recent update, YouTube informed users that accessing videos through third-party ad blocking apps may result in buffering issues or display an error message stating, “The following content is not available on this app.”
Last year, YouTube initiated a global campaign to encourage users to either enable ads or upgrade to YouTube Premium; it started disabling videos for users using ad blocking extensions.
Now, YouTube insists that its policies prohibit third-party apps from disabling ads as it deprives creators of their due rewards for viewership.
This move seems aimed at mobile ad blockers like AdGuard, which allow users to watch YouTube videos without interruptions within the ad blocking app.
YouTube once again recommends subscribing to YouTube Premium for an ad-free experience.
This may definitely not be well-received by users accustomed to watching YouTube with ad blocking apps.
