Google Cracks Down on Deepfake Pornography Advertisements
Google has announced its intention to enforce a ban on advertisements promoting websites and applications involved in the creation of deepfake pornography.
As reported by Engadget, Google’s Inappropriate Content Policy has been updated to explicitly state that advertisers will face suspension for promoting platforms facilitating the production or dissemination of deepfake pornographic content.
This includes services offering instructions on generating such content or endorsing various deepfake porn creators.
The implementation of this new policy is scheduled for May 30, affording existing advertisers a window to remove any advertisements potentially violating the regulation.
This measure supplements Google’s existing policy, which already prohibits the promotion of Shopping ads for services engaged in the generation, distribution, or storage of synthetic sexually explicit or nude content.
This encompasses tutorials on creating deepfake pornography as well as the actual services themselves.
