The American Music Awards (AMAs) were held on the 21st of November at the popular Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles. Popular media personality and comedian, Wayne Brady, hosted the prestigious event.
Wizkid made history by becoming the first artiste to win in the Favorite Afrobeat Artist category, while Tems won two awards.
The AMA’s added a new category this year, – “Favorite Afrobeats Artiste” to its list, the list saw competitors like Wizkid, Fireboy DML, Burna Boy, Ckay, and Tems battling for the prize. However, the ‘Bad To Me’ crooner carried the plaque home.
They took home the Favorite R&B win with “Essence”. Off Wizkid’s 2020 album, “Made in Lagos,”
Tems won Favorite Hip Hop Song for her contribution to Future’s ‘Wait For U’ which features Canadian rapper Drake.
