Kenyan Boy Band Sauti Sol is not pleased with Raila Odinga’s Azimio la Umoja political party – after they used their song Extravaganza during the unveiling of Azimio la Umoja’s running mate
In a statement issued by the group, they detailed that the act of Azimio using their song ‘Extravaganza’ without their consent is blatant copyright infringement as directed by section 35, CAP 170 of the Copyright Act of Kenya.
“We are disappointed by the Azimio la Umoja campaign’s blatant disregard of our right to control the use of our copyright” – the statement read in part.
Extravaganza – features; Sauti Sol, Bensoul, Nviiri the Storyteller, Crystal Asige and Kaskazini. The song was released in 2019.
