Kenyan fashion designer Melina Gold has called out Kenyan artists who are not willing to compensate their stylists well, but have ridiculous demands.
She noted that artists will abruptly call stylists for work but they are not willing to invest or take their time to plan and get better results.
Melina added that she would rather decline some of the work given to her by such artists than lower her standards. She also remarked that artists have a long way to go if this is how they will keep doing their business.
“Aaaand they’ll demand some high-quality shit and expect to pay peanuts. You wonder if the video is yours or for the artists.

Melina has also advised stylists to stop accepting peanuts for their work.
Stylists why are you dressing artistes with Ksh 5,000. 5,000!! If you pay for a taxi to and from and eat lunch from that Ksh 5,000 are you left with a coin? So how do you dress someone and unakubali kulipwa 5k?” she asked.
