Jay-Z, recently shared the unique story behind his daughter Blue Ivy’s name during an interview with Gayle King on CBS Mornings.
Originally, Jay-Z and Beyoncé had planned to name their now 11-year-old daughter “Brooklyn,” in homage to the New York City borough where Jay-Z grew up.

However, during Beyoncé’s pregnancy, they affectionately referred to the unborn child as “Blueberry,” which eventually evolved into “Blue” and became the chosen name.
Blue Ivy Carter, their eldest child, was born in January 2012, and her name was trademarked the following year.
While the inspiration behind the names of their twins, Sir and Rumi, remains private, Blue Ivy has been making her mark in the spotlight.
Earlier this year, she joined Beyoncé’s “Renaissance” tour.
