A vehicle belonging to Nation Media Group (NMG) was hit with stones by protestors this morning during the mass demonstrations organized by Azimio la Umoja in Kibra, Nairobi.
During the protests, some of the young people threw stones at the police officers and journalists, causing damage to the windscreen of the press vehicle belonging to Nation Media Group, as well as that of a police vehicle.

In response, security was increased in strategic areas, including Moi Avenue, Uhuru Park, KICC, and roads leading to State House in Nairobi.
The police erected roadblocks to prevent protestors from entering the CBD, and officers were deployed to University Way, Dennis Pritt, Arboretum Road, and Juja Road near the Moi Air Base.
Several young people were arrested by plainclothes police officers at various locations, including Kencom, KICC, and City Hall Way.
The security detail was also increased in Jeevanjee Gardens, and civilians were not allowed to enter. Meanwhile, Kisumu County saw minimal disruptions as businesses carried out their usual operations, and roads leading to the private residences of Raila Odinga and Martha Karua were restricted, with police blocking the media from accessing Odinga’s house.
