Protestors have begun gathering in Nairobi’s CBD ahead of Azimio la Umoja’s planned mass action today.
Most businesses in Nairobi CBD are closed, most people preferred to stay home today.
Some demonstrators were seen carrying sufurias and shouting pro-Raila Odinga slogans near City Hall and other streets in the area.
Some of the protesters have been arrested and taken away by the police, as seen in videos circulating online.
Meanwhile, in Kibra, protesters started assembling early in the morning but were dispersed by teargas after throwing stones at police officers.
The demonstrations, led by Odinga and other leaders, are intended to be peaceful, with a focus on pressuring the government to address the high cost of living and other concerns.
