Veteran media personality Catherine Kasavuli passed away on December 29th at 60. Kasavuli succumbed to Cervical cancer.
Ms Kasavuli was the first female TV news anchor in the country, and is credited with breaking the glass ceiling for female TV journalists in the country.
During her illustrious career which boomed between the 1990s and 2015, Kasavuli graced Kenyan TV screens as an anchor in most of Kenya’s leading television stations including Citizen TV, State broadcaster KBC and KTN.
Kasavuli returned to KBC in 2020, where she hosted the Legend Edition.
President William Ruto has come to the aid of Catherine Kasavuli’s family by waiving her Sh4 million hospital bill.
KBC’s news presenter John Jacob Kioria shared the good news in a Tweet.

Catherine Kasavuli will be laid to rest at Zululu village in Vihiga county on January 14th, 2023.
According to her family, a funds drive was to be held on January 7, to help in offsetting the Sh4 million medical bill and funeral plans.
