Napoli striker Victor Osimhen‘s agent, Roberto Calenda, has issued a legal threat against the club following an incident where they mocked the player on social media.
Napoli posted a video on their TikTok account showing Osimhen missing a penalty against Bologna.
In response, Osimhen removed most pictures of himself in a Napoli shirt from his Instagram.
Although the post has been deleted, Calenda stated,
We reserve the right to take legal action… What happened… is not acceptable.”
Osimhen, the Nigerian international who joined Napoli for a record fee of 81.3 million euros in 2020, expressed frustration after being substituted in Sunday’s goalless draw against Bologna.
He has been a vital player for Napoli, scoring three goals in six appearances this season,
following his impressive tally of 26 goals in 32 league appearances last season that secured Napoli its first league title in 30 years.
There is now a serious concern that Osimhen may choose not to play in Napoli’s Serie A match against Udinese on September 27.
The lack of progress in contract negotiations between Osimhen and Napoli has also raised doubts about his future, as his contract expires in June 2025, potentially paving the way for a departure in the upcoming transfer windows.
