Miley Cyrus is facing a lawsuit from Tempo Music Investments over alleged copyright infringement involving her 2023 hit “Flowers.”
The company claims that “Flowers” has striking similarities to Bruno Mars’ 2013 song “When I Was Your Man,” particularly in its lyrics, melody, harmony, and chorus.
Although Mars is not involved in the lawsuit, the complaint highlights lyrical parallels, such as Mars’ “I shoulda bought you flowers” and Cyrus’ “I can buy myself flowers.”
Tempo, which owns part of the copyright for Mars’ song, is seeking damages and an injunction to stop Cyrus from reproducing or performing “Flowers.”
