The Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) has been facing criticism from musicians who are dissatisfied with the amount of royalties they received.
This dissatisfaction has been expressed by several popular artists, including Bien, Khaligraph Jones, to share that they had received a meagre amount; contrary to their efforts.
Matata has advised Kenyan artists to get themselves international publishers adding that they have only been in the industry from 3 years and have made over 5m in royalties.

Dear fellow Kenyan artists,
MATATA
Y’all can keep complaining about MCSK paying pennies or you can get yourself an international publisher.
We’ve been in the scene for only 3 years
and we’ve made over 5m in publishing royalties. Stay woke 🙄🙄
