Award-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o caused a stir when she made a striking appearance at the Tony Awards 2023, wearing a daring breastplate (paint-top) that left little to the imagination.

Attending the event in black trousers and a black coat, Lupita’s ensemble was accentuated by a unique paint hairdo (breastplate), sparking a range of reactions from her fans and followers.

While some expressed confusion over Lupita’s outfit, others applauded her for her fearless choice to embrace a “topless” look.

Describing her attire as a “shameless-out-of-body experience,” Lupita shared the story behind her outfit, which was designed by Misha Japanwala, a Pakistani artist and fashion designer.

Misha Japanwala is a Pakistani artist and fashion designer, whose work is rooted in the rejection and deconstruction of external shame attached to one’s body. In her artistic process, she creates a realistic and true record of a person’s body as an act of resistance and celebration, and an insistence on being allowed to exist freely in our bodies.

I like it. I think it speaks on how society only wants us when we make ourselves into objects of desire. Yet when we starve that machine suddenly its “too much”

hmmm when Zendaya did it, nothing but praises… I love this! it is an amazing look and such a great commentary and purpose behind it. it’s very clear that the people in the comments are the ones that needed to see it and be challenged by it ❤️ (both you and Zendaya are stunning, no comparison in appearance intended)

I think there are other ways of one expressing themselves and being liberated w/t having to expose the body. But hey, who am I? That’s the world we are living in today.
