Lupita Nyong’o to Cast Her First Vote as a U.S. Citizen,
Endorses Kamala Harris
Acclaimed actress Lupita Nyong’o has announced that she will be voting in the United States for the very first time, marking a significant moment in her life.
The Kenyan-born star shared the news in a video on her social media channels,
where she revealed her excitement and pride about participating in the upcoming U.S. presidential election on November 5, 2024.
Nyong’o, excitedly talked about the importance of voting, particularly as a first-time voter, or as she playfully referred to herself, a “Virgin Voter.”
In her video, she expressed her commitment to voting for Kamala Harris in the presidential race, making it clear that she would not be supporting the current incumbent, Donald Trump.
In her post, she shared the following message:
I will be voting for THE VERY FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE in the US election this year! Historically, while I have been eligible to vote in my home country, Kenya,
I have not been able to participate from abroad (the country does not accommodate absentee voting).
But this November 5, 2024, I will VOTE as a new American citizen, and I am very excited and honored to exercise that right. That makes me a Virgin Voter!”
Now, I know there are other #VirginVoters out there — let’s hold our heads high and pledge to VOTE this year, shall we?! 💪🏿 I have taken the first step and confirmed my registration status ✅
