Kenyan-born actress and seminary student – Maryanne Oketch was crowned the Survivor winner – winning the $1 million prize.
Maryanne Oketch, 24, emerged the winner in the epic season of Survivor Season 42 whose grand finale aired on Wednesday, May 25, on American TV station, CBS.
The three-hour grand spectacle saw Maryanne Oketch, a student – walk away with Ksh115 million (USD1 million), becoming the second black woman to win the Survivor after 20 years. The first was Vecepia Towery who won in 2002.
Following a series of games and obstacles, it all came down to Oketch and Turner, a New Jersey-based firefighter. With seven jury votes to one, Oketch took the win to rousing applause from her fellow competitors.
