On Thursday, Jowie Irungu, the primary suspect in the Monica Kimani murder case, provided a narrative to the court regarding how he sustained a gunshot wound on the fateful day.
He explained that an argument had erupted between him and his ex-fiancée, Jacque Maribe, over certain messages he discovered on her phone.
Jowie disclosed that this was not the first time they had such a disagreement and that the situation escalated as he was intoxicated and enraged by what he had seen.
This time it escalated, I wanted to leave the house because the same message was repetitive.
I was intoxicated and angry I didn’t want to listen to her because of whatever I had seen

While he did not disclose the contents of the messages, he stated that he had raised the issue with one of their friends.
Jowie proceeded to gather his belongings, and in the midst of the heated moment, a gun belonging to Brian accidentally went off as Jowie was handling his things, resulting in him accidentally shooting himself.
Jacque Maribe, alongside Jowie Irungu, has been charged with the murder of Monica Kimani. The trial continues as they defend themselves against the accusations.
