DJ Krowbar and his wife, Joy Wanjiru, have been grappling with significant challenges following her diagnosis of kidney failure two years ago.
In a candid conversation with Radio Maisha’s Mwende Macharia, DJ Krowbar opened up about the heart-wrenching moment he learned about his wife’s health condition.
He recounted the events, saying,

One Sunday, she woke up feeling unwell. I urged her to visit the doctor while I tended to our children. A subsequent call changed everything, urging me to rush to the hospital.”
Upon medical evaluation, it was determined that Wanjiru’s kidney failure stemmed from high blood pressure.
Urgent surgical intervention was advised, but the financial burden proved insurmountable for the couple.
Consequently, Wanjiru has been undergoing the demanding process of dialysis—an arduous and costly treatment method.
Krowbar disclosed the toll dialysis has taken on his wife, both physically and emotionally.
He shared,
The experience has been exceedingly painful for her, and she constantly battles fatigue. Moreover, the financial implications are substantial. Our monthly expenditure on her treatment alone reaches around Sh80,000.”
In light of their circumstances, DJ Krowbar and his wife have launched an earnest plea for financial assistance to fund Wanjiru’s imperative kidney transplant.

The surgery, projected to cost Sh6 million, remains a considerable challenge.
Despite the hurdles, the couple has already managed to gather Sh2 million through their efforts.
Expressing hope, Krowbar conveyed,
We are placing our faith in the collective compassion of Kenyans to rally behind us and contribute to preserving my wife’s life.”
