France is considering a new regulation that would require influencers to disclose whether their photos have been edited or filtered, as part of an effort to combat the negative psychological effects of social media on users’ self-esteem.
The proposal, which could impact approximately 150,000 influencers in France, will be included in a new bill to be introduced this week, Women’s Wear Daily reports.
In addition, the regulation will prohibit promotion of cosmetic surgery as part of a paid partnership.
The French government previously passed a law in 2017 requiring labels on images of retouched bodies in print and online.
