Doja Cat’s track “Paint the Town Red” has broken the dry spell for rap on the Billboard Hot 100, climbing from No. 3 to the top spot.
This achievement marks the end of rap’s longest drought on the chart, with the last rap song to reach No. 1 being Nicki Minaj’s “Super Freaky Girl” in August 2022.
“Paint the Town Red” garnered significant attention, accumulating 32.1 million radio airplay audience impressions, 27.7 million streams, and 8,000 downloads between September 1 and September 7.
It currently holds the second position on the Streaming Songs chart.
Doja Cat is gearing up to release her forthcoming album “Scarlet” on September 22, following the success of her singles “Demons,” “Paint the Town Red,” and “Attention.”
On Spotify, “Paint the Town Red” has over 180 Million streams and over 40 Million Streams on YouTube.
