South African DJ and producer, DJ Maphorisa, whose real name is Themba Sonnyboy Sekowe, has been arrested on charges of assaulting his girlfriend, Thuli Phongolo.
The incident occurred at Phongolo’s apartment in Sandton, Johannesburg, as reported by South African Media.
Phongolo reported the incident to the police, stating that DJ Maphorisa had grabbed her aggressively by the neck and taken her to the balcony during the altercation.
Visible injuries were reportedly sustained by Phongolo during the assault.
The arrest was made on Sunday, May 7, 2023, following the report of the case of common assault at the Sandton Police Station.
Mavela Masondo of the South African Police Service confirmed the arrest and stated that the alleged assault took place at the Sandton apartment.
