Dictionary.com has recently added 566 new entries to its repertoire, including several noteworthy terms in the Identity & Relationships category.

These include-
“Gaymarry” (to marry a person of the same gender)
“Polysexual” (attraction to people of various genders)
“Grandfamily” (a family where children are raised by their grandparents)
Additionally, there are terms like “diverse-owned” (pertaining to businesses owned by historically underrepresented groups) and “kinkeeping” (the effort involved in maintaining family connections).
Other intriguing additions encompass “box braids” (a hairstyle originating from Black culture), “CODA” (Child of Deaf Adult), and terms like “amalgagender” (linked to intersex identity) and “stealth” (pertaining to transgender individuals living discreetly as their identified gender).
Lastly, terms like “autosexual” (self-directed sexual attraction) and “autoromantic” (self-focused romantic attraction) have also been added.
In addition, words like “nepo baby,” “jawn,” “shower orange,” “greenwashing,” “unsend,” and “generative AI” have also made their way into the archive.
grandfamily
noun. a family in which one or more children live with and are raised by their grandparent or grandparents.
kinkeeping
noun. Sociology. the labor involved in maintaining and enhancing family ties, including organizing social occasions, remembering birthdays, sending gifts, etc.
diverse-owned
adjective. (of a business) owned by someone who is part of a group historically underrepresented in entrepreneurship, such as women, ethnic or racial minorities, LGBTQ+ people, etc.
box braids
noun. a hairstyle originating among Black people, in which the hair is parted into small squares or other shapes over the scalp and the hair from each section is woven into a braid.
CODA

📝 Useful as un-gendered alternative to unmanned. The opposite, crewed, is also a word.

📝 Commonly used in the negative, as in That’s something you can’t unsee.
unsend
verb. to delete (a digital message such as an email or text) from the devices of the sender and receiver.
