Diamond Platnumz has responded to accusations of copying music from Nigerian artists, dismissing the claims as baseless and driven by envy of his success.
The singer addressed the allegations after collaborating with Juma Jux, which reignited debates over the similarity of some of his songs to popular Nigerian hits.
They collaborated in ‘Enjoy’ released 6 days ago.
Critics have identified similarities between ‘Enjoy’ by Diamond Platnumz and ‘Who’s Your Guy’ by Spyro featuring Tiwa Savage.
Diamond found himself in the spotlight earlier this week after Nigerians shared examples of songs by the singer that bear similarities to Nigerian tracks.
In response, Diamond has clapped back at his detractors, stating that he was focused on making money in Canada while others wasted time pointing fingers.

He has defended his actions by highlighting the double standards, claiming that when others sample, they are called geniuses, but when he does it, he is accused of copying.
When others do it, they are called geniuses and hailed for sampling, but when we do it, we are accused of copying.

Notably, Diamond also took a swipe at his rival Alikiba, criticizing the hypocrisy and lack of foundation in the accusations of copying.
When they ‘copy,’ you’ll hear them saying they have sampled, but when we do so, they say we have copied.

If they were geniuses, they would have sung traditional songs, why are they singing Amapiano?”
