CNN anchor Don Lemon has expressed his surprise and disappointment after being fired from the network, following accusations of misconduct and sexism.
In a tweet, Lemon said he was informed of his dismissal by his agent. (See the Tweet Image Below)
CNN confirmed that they had “parted ways” and wished him well.
The decision came after Lemon made comments on air about Republican politician Nikki Haley that were deemed inappropriate.
In February, Lemon made a comment on-air stating that Republican Nikki Haley was not “in her prime”, a statement that was widely criticized as sexist.

His female co-hosts, Poppy Harlow and Kaitlan Collins, objected to the remark and Lemon responded by telling them to “Google it” as it was a fact.
Lemon later issued a statement on the same day, acknowledging his comments were “inartful and irrelevant”.
He apologized, however, his remarks sparked widespread condemnation.
This news also comes on the same day that Fox News announced it was parting ways with host Tucker Carlson.
Lemon had been a long-standing figure at CNN and most recently co-hosted their CNN This Morning programme.
