In a courtroom defense against charges of firearm misuse, Member of Parliament for Embakasi East, Babu Owino, revealed that he has expended Ksh.58.6 million to cover all expenses related to Felix Orinda, also known as DJ Evolve.
The MP stated that he purchased a Ksh.17 million apartment in Kilimani for the DJ’s residence and intends to provide further treatment for him, as well as establish a DJ academy.

Owino emphasized that he took responsibility for DJ Evolve’s medical bills since his family was unable to afford the costs.
The accumulated expenses reached Ksh.23 million, which covered the DJ’s immobility and the need for continuous care.
The MP disclosed employing two nurses, two physiotherapists, and one occupational therapist, with monthly payments of Ksh.300,000.
Furthermore, he revealed providing Ksh.70,000 per month for DJ Evolve’s upkeep, including bills and food, and Ksh.80,000 per month for medication.
To date, Owino stated that he has already paid Ksh.11.1 million, with ongoing payments for 37 months, totaling Ksh.5.5 million.

During his defense, Owino argued that on the day of the alleged offense, his gun malfunctioned, making it impossible for it to have fired the bullet in question.
He contended that the bullet could have originated from another firearm.
The trial magistrate, Bernard Ochoi, presided over the proceedings, which revealed Babu Owino’s significant financial contributions towards DJ Evolve’s well-being.
