The iPhone 16 lineup now includes 8GB of RAM across all models, thanks to Apple Intelligence.
Johny Srouji, Apple’s VP of hardware tech, revealed in an interview that the increase to 8GB was necessary to support this feature and enhance performance, particularly for high-end gaming.
Although Apple hadn’t disclosed the RAM details initially, references to the 8GB RAM were found in Xcode after the announcement.
iOS 18 will not bring Apple Intelligence to the iPhone 15, which has 6GB of RAM.
Srouji’s interview also covers Apple’s hardware performance, the A18 chips, and improvements in thermal design and image processing.
