Recently Otile Brown blamed language as reason why East African music is failing to go international, as compared to countries like Nigeria and South Africa.
Ali Kiba has recently spoken about the same – according to him, other countries enjoy local support as compared to East Africans.

In general I’ll speak about what is so obvious. In order to sell music you need crowds. Nigerians are very proud of their country and their music. That is why their music has been spreading,”
Ali Kiba
The Tanzanian Bongo artist also added that it might get East Africans tine to get to that level. He also noted that artists from other countries have taken their time to build their networks, unlike their East African counterparts.
They got their connections way back and they are are more united than us (East Africans). They support each other so much. It will take time for us to get there,”
Ali Kiba
Nigerian Artists continue to thrive internationally through collaborations and features. They are selling out shows all around the world.
