“Mass Country” the posthumous album by AKA, whose real name is Kiernan Forbes, has been released. The album was produced and finalized prior to the South African rapper’s tragic death in Durban, South Africa.
Featuring a blend of South African local sounds, AKA’s new album showcases a plethora of South Africa’s hip hop talent, including Khuli Chana, Blxckie, Nadia Nakai, Emtee, Yanga Chief, Sjava, and others.

According to AKA’s mother, Lynn Forbes, “Mass Country” was a source of immense pride for the late rapper. She said that the family had the pleasure of witnessing the album’s musical evolution over the years and that AKA played it for them repeatedly. She expressed happiness that the world could finally listen to it.

Warren Bokwe, Spotify’s lead for music strategy and operations in sub-Saharan Africa, stated that AKA was one of the few South African hip hop megastars and that the company was honored to be able to continue sharing his music with fans worldwide.
The album is available on Spotify and other major streaming platforms.
According to data from Spotify, – South Africa constitutes the largest single market for AKA’s music at 38%, the vast majority of listeners (62%) are streaming his music from other parts of the world.
